Our Story
A Passion for Quality
At Blue Skies Cattle Co, our journey began with a deep-rooted passion for nurturing top-quality livestock. As a local family-owned ranch, we take immense pride in our heritage and the commitment to responsible animal husbandry. Our story is one of dedication, hard work, and a genuine love for the animals under our care.
A little about how this crazy ranch got started:
I personally was raised on a farm/ranch in central, rural South Dakota. I participated in 4-H, FFA, Horse Shows/Barrel Races as a child, college and into adulthood. I raised my daughter with goats, rabbits, chickens and horses. Farming, ranching, showing and the general western lifestyle is an integral part of who we are. We have downhome country values and love the quiet farm life. With my personal love of farming, ranching, animals and... also medicine; it only seemed natural to go into the field of veterinary medicine. I graduated as a mixed animal veterinarian from Texas A&M. I worked for a few different clinics before starting my own practice. After over 20 years running my own clinic, I sold and bought a farm in Missouri to start the farm we have today. I still practice veterinary medicine as a relief veterinarian as well as working with animal rescues. Since veterinarians never truly retire, we figured I better stay busy as retirement edges closer. We wanted to raise some purebred, high quality cattle and goats. With much research into different breeds, the Myotonic Goat and Mini Highland Cattle were the perfect choice!
